BLUE FLAG BEACHES
THE EASTERN CAPE IS INCREDIBLY PROUD TO HAVE BEEN AWARDED TWO BLUE FLAG MARINA SITES IN ST FRANCIS BAY AND IN PORT ALFRED. ADDITIONALLY, THE PROVINCE HAS RETAINED SEVEN BLUE FLAG BEACHES.
BLUE FLAGS WILL BE FLOWN AT:
- Kariega Beach (Kenton-on-Sea)
- Hobie Beach (Nelson Mandela Bay)
- Humewood Beach (Nelson Mandela Bay)
- Kings Beach (Nelson Mandela Bay)
- Dolphin Beach (Jeffreys Bay)
- Kelly’s Beach (Port Alfred)
- Hamburg Beach (Between Port Alfred and East London)
This is a respected eco-label for beaches, boats and marinas that is internationally recognised as a sign of quality and is regarded by the World Tourism Organisation as the most well-known global eco-label. It is an authenticated depiction that these beaches have met stringent criteria relating to environmental, safety and educational criteria.
Blue Flag Beaches are all about sustainable tourism, by not only promoting the beauty that the Eastern Cape coastline has to offer but enjoying them responsibly. Just one more reason to explore the Eastern Cape!
